Anthony Pettis Wants To Take The Joe Lauzon Challenge
“I don’t know who my next opponent is but I’m going for that title shot, that title shot run, so anybody who’s a top five guy, I’m ready for them. Joe Lauzon beat Melvin Guillard, I think that would be a great fight for me.”
In a recent interview with CageFanatic.com, the last reigning WEC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis states that he wants to fight Joe Lauzon next.
With Joe Lauzon coming off an impressive victory over Melvin Guillard and Anthony Pettis besting Jeremy Stephens on the same evening, does the fight make sense?

You’re dumb as **** pettis would make J lau look dumb standing his only chance is on the ground but it’s not like he is some big wrestler either so this would be a win win fight for pettis.
Pettis is not a better striker then Edgar he just does fancy shit to get your attention, and J lau can make a serious run since the top 5 guys in the div he matches up well against.
And I personally dont think Edgar is “road runner” nor has he grinded anyone out since Spencer Fisher…so what exactly are you guys talking about?

Good to see Pettis step up when the opportunity presents itself. J-Lau OR Nate Diaz would be a great fight for Showtime. Would love to see either scrap between Pettis/Lauzon or Pettis/Diaz by the end of this year since all 3 competitors have recently walked away from their previous fights almost untouched.

Ok just because Edgar doesn’t KO everyone doesn’t mean he can’t. And I like pettis but HE WOULD GET WORKED. Guida Layed on him I get it, but pettis had no answer. Just cause pettis can strike doesn’t mean he is as Joes level. Fancy doesn’t always work. Until pettis actually finishes someone in the UFC he’s got a lot to prove.
First of all Pettis is not just a striker.. he got a sick groundgame too. May or may not be better than lauzon but he is really good off his back. I highly doubt lauzon could keep Pettis down either and standing Lauzon’s in all kinds of trouble.
Yeah right many…Lauzons’ stand up gets underestimated every time he fights. Pettis has his flashy kicks, but if you look back..he got rocked by Shane Roller a couple time im pretty sure and if it goes to the ground….Anthony is in all kinds of trouble…Lauzon might not be the strong able to hold you down type of guys but his transitions are smooth and sneaky and so are his submissions….J-Lau FTW!

Everyone’s talking about Pettis’s striking the way the did Guillard and you see how that fight ended. I like J-Lau in this one.

Both guys are good fighters.. Should be a good fight. People hate on Pettis over the Guida fight but Clay makes most people look bad & at least Pettis took that fight. He didn’t have to, but it looks like he learned from that loss. Frankie Edgars conditioning is in another level & he has legit boxing & footwork.. His possible fight with Jose Aldo would be epic…
I would much rather see Pettis/Cerrone but this isnt a bad match up either, Lauzon has underrated stand up, very solid ground. So it would be interesting.. And IMO Edgar wouldnt “work” Pettis, nor do i think he has better overall striking than Pettis. But edgar would beat him, 49-46
I think J-Lau is extremely underrated. It’s a shame his Last fight didn’t last too long, we didn’t get to see much more than we already knew about him.
Good match up….either way, that paper weight Edgar will get what he has coming to him.

Anthony showtime is not a top ten guy in any aspect of his game he would b wrked knocked out by Edgar submitted by lauzon pettis is another overrated guy he showed he’s just as good as Jeremy Stephens o wait he took Jim dwn and dry humped him that fight and just got the split dec pettis sucks needs to improve everything to be a top ten guy he looked pathetic in his last two fights in UFC and that’s not even an opinion that’s just stats
Frankie’s BOXING is better than Pettis’ but Pettis’ STRIKING is better than Frankie’s. You forget that kicks, knees, elbows and punches count towards striking. Frankie has good hands and head movement but he doesn’t vary it up as much as Pettis. If Pettis did get through to Edgar – I think Edgar would win.
