Anderson Silva Will Get Immediate Rematch if He Loses to Weidman, Says Dana White

By Christopher Murphy @MurphMMA

UFC president Dana White announced to media on Monday that middleweight champion, and long-standing pound-for-pound king, Anderson Silva would be granted an immediate rematch if he loses to Chris Weidman.  Weidman is set to challenge for Silva’s belt this Saturday at UFC 162.

Since winning the UFC middleweight belt in 2006, Anderson Silva (33-4, 16-0 UFC) has not faltered as a professional fighter.  He is currently the longest reigning champion, holding the longest winning streak at 16 and the longest title defense streak at 10.

These accolades, said White, earns him an immediate rematch if he were to ever lose in the Octagon.

“I’d do the rematch the next fight,” the UFC president told  “Guy hasn’t lost in the UFC ever, has beat everybody.  He loses that fight, he’s the guy for a rematch if he wants it.”

This of course is an option if Silva loses.  As the favored fighter coming into this bout, the UFC also has some obvious plans in place if the champion retains his belt.  Dana White said that a superfight between Silva and either light heavyweight champion Jon Jones or welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre, is still a possibility.

“He didn’t sign a 10-fight deal to not take big fights.  He cares about legacy,” White said, according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Any of this, whether the rematch or the superfight, will have to wait for how this Saturday night unfolds.

Be sure to catch UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman live this Saturday from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Preliminary fights are set to air on Facebook, beginning at 3:30/6:30pm PT/ET, and on FX at 5/8pm PT/ET.  The main card will air on Pay Per View beginning at 7/10pm PT/ET.

Even Dana knows Chris is gonna beat Silva up!

  2. The Way Of The Dutchman says:

Don’t worry squid, magoo will be MIA once Anderson takes out Weidman in brutal fashion.

  3. Dddddddd says:

Oh shit. He absolutely, positively should no doubt about it.
I want Chris to win but if Anderson beats his ass ill give him the respect he’d deserve.

Been hangin around this site for about 5years now, it’s def not what it use to be,alot of losers and tards lately! As far as Silva/ St Pierre goes all Andy boy has to do is cut to 170 and c’mon down to Georgie’s world, there would be no excuses then, not to mention it would be a fair fight then!

It’s funny, Silva can smash Weidman in the first round, and will still hear dumbasses like “MANGOO” still hate and troll on Silva. I’m not even a big Silva fan, but I respect him and his accomplishments.16 consecutive wins, and 10 title defenses, and 12 post fight bonuses. Some people are unbelievably FCKN retarded, better yet stupid, I don’t want to offend any retarded people,a retarded person has more sense than these idiots.

    Anderson Silva, 2nd Round KO.
    Weidman got nothing on Silva.

No one seems to understand, but in their second fight, after the first takedown against Chael (which many believe Silva allowed Chael to do on purpose), Silva stuffed every one of Chael’s takedowns after that, and Chael is the BEST wrestler in MMA. Did no one see how he’d stuff them with double-arms and clinch work? Chael Sonnen is the guy that put Bisping on his back multiple times, and Bisping NEVER goes down (minus Hendo KOing his ass).

People aren’t giving Silva enough credit when it comes to wrestling defense just because he got toppled in the first fight against Chael; a fight Silva was injured before entering into…

So let’s say the fight ends up on the ground if Weidman does take him down, then what? He’ll have to deal with a high-level BJJ game. He’d trap him in a triangle faster than he did to Sonnen (with injured ribs).

Silva is the guy that taught Werdum how to defeat Fedor before the fight. What happened? Werdum won. Fedor’s ground defense is absolutely no joke, being pretty much the only guy to ever break through and defend all of Noguiera’s ground attacks, which only Frank Mir and Josh Barnett managed to do.

Silva is the greatest martial artist and just the best fighter that ever lived, and there’s not a soul on this planet that can beat him. If aliens started invading Earth and wanted to challenge the strongest human in exchange for Earth’s freedom, we’d call Anderson Silva.

I wish that the people on this site no matter who you are could agree, disagree, fight I don’t care …but leave the retarded stuff out. That is hurtful for those who have a handicap or know people who do. Let’s all try to clean it up even if we are blasting each other.

Come on, man. This site is the lowest of low-brow. From “you’re a retard” oh wait, I mean “YOUR a retard” to “fuck your mother” or “you obviously know nothing about MMA. You can’t take what a lot off these clowns say to heart, because they love to be elite, and God-like. Don’t get me wrong, this site does have it’s share of contructive, well educated people who comment with legitimate question, concerns, or statements, but for the most part, it’s the septic tank of humanity. If people wanted to know where to find the most vile, disgusting sexist racist homophobic bigots the world has to offer, I would send them to, where iq is only a detriment to how wellyou can Iinsult one another.
