Anderson Silva: ‘Sorry, but I no respect Mayweather, he’s a smurf’

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva (33-5 MMA, 16-1 UFC) appears to have a bone to pick with undefeated boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr.

Here is what “The Spider” had to say about about “Money” during a conversation on Sway’s Universe:

“Who? Who? Boxing is a great sport. My dad fight boxing for long time in Brazil. I like the story. Boxing have traditional story and people in United States love boxing. I watch Roy Jones, Oscar de La Hoya, Vinny Pazienza, The big man, the great man in boxing in my opinion is Muhammad Ali is the great boxer. He give the chance to change the world inside the ring and outside. Boxers have the great story. I respect for boxing. Floyd Mayweather? I don’t know this guy. Is he Papa Smurf? Mayweather is good boxing. This is my opinion. The guy no respect me. I respect all the guys in the world. Mayweather is a part of this story in the world. I’m part of the sport in the world. Mayweather need to respect this, but this guy no respect nothing. Sorry, but I no respect Mayweather.”

Anderson’s remarks should come as no surprise, considering Mayweather said he didn’t know who “The Spider” was in an interview with ESNews last month.

The 38-year-old, Silva, is set to rematch the man who took his title at UFC 162, Chris Weidman (10-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) this December in the main event of UFC 168.

Prior to the Weidman loss, Silva had won an incredible 16 straight bouts inside the Octagon, setting a UFC record with 10 consecutive successful title defenses.

Meanwhile, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr (44-0) is set to defend his  WBA (super) light middleweight strap against Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1) next month in Sin City.
