Anderson Silva says he will fight whomever the UFC wants, GSP or Jon Jones!

The pound-for-pound king and middleweight champion Anderson Silva is in attendance for UFC 154 in Canada tonight. Before the show Silva talked to the media and of course was asked about the possible fight with Georges St-Pierre, should GSP defeat Condit tonight. Silva said he would fight GSP, but more interesting was that he said he would also be up for a fight with the light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones if that were what the UFC wanted.

Silva seemed clear that he thinks GSP will beat Carlos Condit and that would set up the super fight between what most people think are the #1 and #2 pound for pound best fighters in MMA today. There has been many different opinions amongst the MMA fans and media about which super fight was more intriguing, Silva vs. GSP or Silva vs. Jones. Well it looks like maybe we can all get our wish and get both fights in the future. For now it seems Silva is focused on the possibilities of a GSP fight when he spoke with the media before UFC 154 tonight.

“My first goal is the Georges St-Pierre fight, the super fight,” he said. “The second goal? Maybe Jon Jones. But this is not my decision. This is Dana [White's] decision.”

The interesting thing about even being open to fighting Jon Jones now is the fact that Silva and Jones both recently said they didn’t have any interest in fighting each other. They both have a lot of respect for each other but maybe with Jon Jones saying recently that he didn’t want to fight Silva because he didn’t want to be the one who beat him has something to do with Silva changing his mind. For now though, we wait to see if everything falls into place. The thing we know is if Silva fights GSP next or Jon Jones, it will be the biggest PPV the UFC will ever put on and will be a treat for us fans of MMA.

Good to hear him mention JBJ… wonder what Jon has to say about this?

  2. Brad says:

This is old news, but now that its brought to the forefront maybe people will finally stop bitching about Anderson Silva taking the “easy” fights. God I hate ignorant fans

    • Xaninho says:

      +1
I’m 100% with you on that one!

    • EP says:

absolutely agree as well…. so many silva haters its fkn ridiculous … how can you a man that is a fkn living legend and the greatest fighter of all time…. a fighter that is true warrior and finishes 95% of his fights, moves up and down in weight, and steps up to the plate , champion for 7 years … i mean give me a break … what dont people understand, silva is once in lifetime opportunity, one of kind fighter, freak of nature… we will never see another Anderson Silva in our lifetime… i am honored every time i get to see him fight and every else should be , as well. As far as him fighting Gsp or Jon Jones, he would destroy and finish either one of them, and TRUE MMA fans know that …. period.

      • Rob says:

Woah there buddy. Take Anderson’s dick out of your mouth for a second. Anderson is the best alive, but not the best ever. And he would have a hard time with JBJ.

  3. Big Daddy says:

I hope Dana makes jones vs silva instead.

  4. average joe says:

John Jones watch and learn, this is a true champ, someone willing to fight anyone anywhere…

  5. Mike McMack says:

Now that Spidey has went on record it’s only a matter of time before we see him stop GSP’s and Jones’ win streaks. I think Silva will win them both but I’m way more interested in the Jones fight. I think the reason he’s wanted GSP first is cause he scared of the money he’ll lose if he fights Jones first and doesn’t win, the GSP fight wouldn’t be as big a money maker if that particular scenario happened.

  6. Pkq says:

“I’ll fight anyone, just pick one of these two people”

  7. 123 says:

really hope he fights jon jones, would be crazy.

  8. Dick Diaz says:

Jon Jones is the more appropriate fight… stop picking on someone who is smaller than you…

    • Tyler says:

Look it’s simple. Silva can make a HUGE amount of money fighting GSP first, then if he wins he can go fight Jon Jones and make a ton of more money.

He clearly knows that if he fights Jon Jones first and beats him there will not be as much interest fighting the smaller GSP.

Also if he loses to Jon Jones (Unlikely) it would not help his cause for fighting GSP.

  9. M0JADO says:

How is Jones the better fight? Jones walks around between 240-250 and Anderson is probably barely over the 205 mark. Just look at him when he fought at 205 any time he never looked huge or much bigger, like Vitor did. I’d love to see him smash Jones but I don’t understand why people constantly say it’s a better match up.

  10. xHITMANxSWAGx says:

Anderson silva is at the point now where he has nothing else to gain, but all to lose. If these to fights happen and he wins he should jus retire and keep his legacy while its still good. I really hope he doesn’t end up like chuck and doesn’t know when to retire, with all do respect to the former champ. For silva willing to take on both of them i have the highest of the high respect for the man. he is my all time favorite

This is an amazing, excellent and wonderful post in terms of content, ideas and resources. vakantie

  13. Iceman says:

GSP just came out from injury aside from winning the condit fight. I prefer a Silva-Jones fight rather than a Silva-St Pierre fight. Both Silva and Jones are healthy and are up waiting. GSP is a bit small for silva. But hell, let GSP fight other top contenders in the UFC first before announcing a Silva-GSP fight to get him back in top form.

    SILVA-JONES!!!
