Anderson Silva Declines Chael Sonnen’s Offer To Help Him Coach On TUF
Chael Sonnen, always an instigator, made headlines recently when he requested his rival Anderson Silva to be an assistant coach for his team on the upcoming Ultimate Fighter: Brazil season.
Anderson Silva, apparently, wasn’t opposed to the idea, but said it unfortunately could not happen.
“It is true – I did get invited,” Silva told MMAjunkie through a translator. “But unfortunately, I’m not in Brazil, so I’m not going to be able to go down there and help.”
“But I think for the sport, it would be something that will be great, especially because the guys competing are all Brazilian, so it would be good to go on either team and help them,” he added.
Sonnen will coach opposite MMA legend Wanderlei Silva, and the two will compete against each other at the conclusion of the show. Wanderlei Silva and Sonnen have a history, and both of them legitimately dislike one another. Sonnen’s inflammatory remarks about Brazilian culture and its fighters have caused Wanderlei Silva to be offended, and Sonnen being Sonnen, he just keeps stoking the fire.
Both Wanderlei and Anderson Silva have history as well, as they trained together at the legendary Chute Boxe Academy in Curitiba, Brazil.
