Anderson Silva Camp Turns Down Weidman and Jones; Calls Diaz a Good Opponent I MMA News
With the challengers for Anderson Silva‘s belt lining up around the corner like the debut of a new iPhone, Silva weighs in on who he is willing to fight. The answer might surprise you as Silva (via Ed Soares) said that he doesn’t want a fight with Chris Weidman or a super-fight with Jon Jones. He does, however, welcome a fight with welterweight Nick Diaz.
While speaking to reporters at the UFC on FOX 4 open workouts, Soares opened up on potential opponents.
First, Silva’s manager turns down the idea of a super-fight between Silva and the 205-pound king, Jon Jones:
“I don’t think it’s a good fight. I think No. 1, Jon Jones, said he doesn’t want the fight, and Anderson said he doesn’t want the fight. What is it going to do for Jones if he goes go down in weight to fight Anderson? If he loses it’s going to ruin him. If Anderson Silva moves up in weight and fights Jon Jones, here’s a lighter guy who’s going to take my title? C’mon dude. Anderson is fighting a much younger guy, a much bigger guy, and Jon Jones is going to be fighting a smaller guy who technically could be better than him. I can see why each guy wouldn’t want to fight. What’s the upside? Dana can’t force anyone to fight at a bigger weight class. Anderson is the 185-pound champion. He’ll fight anyone you put in front of him. So make Jon Jones make 185 pounds if you want that to happen.”
“I mean, because he had an impressive win over Mark Munoz and Maia? Sure.”
“Sure, we’ll consider anyone the UFC puts in front of us, I don’t have a choice. Nick Diaz is a good opponent possibly, I mean, he’s a smaller guy, but he’s a guy who comes out and fights every time, he’s going to put on a good fight. I don’t know what’s going to happen, that’s a question for Dana and [Joe] Silva.”For More MMA news and updates, stay tuned to BJPENN.com and make sure to leave your comments below.

Wait, did he just say Bisping!? Bisping!? Wth are you smoking, you don’t want Bisping to see his kids grow up?? Enough said? Yeah, if we were talking about the worst matchup EVER! Now back to something actually interesting: Diaz vs Silva
Actually not enough said.. Bisping is a focking joke. Talks alot but gets his ass handed to him when it comes to the top fighters
gets his ass handed to him? do you watch his fights
they are good paced grinds that mainly make split decision
hes only been handed once and thats hendo whos top10 most devisions
A fight between Diaz and Silva would be much better than Weidman and Silva. Diaz has better grappling and jiu- jitsu and better striking, plus they could hype the shit out of that fight.
Hahaha yea right. Silva would KO Diaz. Unless it hits te ground early then Diaz would win
Silva definately has better striking than Diaz, but no one has ever come at Silva like Diaz would.
you must of missed the first fight with Sonnen i guess…
he didnt come at anderson, he took him down and layed on him and threw a few elbows
dias will be throwing punches
I saw the fight, but I didn’t see Chael move forward on the feet and try to push Anderson against the cage and land 5-6 punch combinations, but then again maybe I missed something maybe I missed something.
Diaz striking will put a hurting on Silva in the later rounds. Plus, Diaz present troubles for Silva on the ground and I think submits Silva if it goes there. The challenge is getting it to the championship rounds to do damage. Diaz is tough enough, crazy enough and good enough to beat Silva and I would love to see this fight!
Diaz’s style is perfect 4 silva thats why silva wants the fight,
does silva vs leben ring a bell like the guys in middle w were’nt
small enough, silva’ is a poor excuse 4 an actual fighter what a weak c##t!
“he’ll fight anyone they put in front of him” then why is he turning down challengers left and right? I mean honestly.. There is no way the UFC lets Nick Diaz fight anderson silva… it will be a 1 sided ass kicking all of 3 minutes..
That’s right he will fight anyone THEY put in front of him. In other words he can turn down weidman or whoever he wants but if THEY decide that who they are gonna put in front of him then that’s who he is gonna fight. Period.
ed soarez like nick diaz over weidmann due to a bigger balls diaz over d other. His ass was full of guava seeds to feed on. Crazy bitch.
Anderson doesn’t want to fight Jones because he will lose. He doesn’t want to fight Weidman because he will lose. He wants to fight a couple little guys. He ducks. Ducks balls.
Why doesn’t Bones want to fight Anderson then?
Because they’re friends? Silva started with excuses cause he said himself he doesn’t think he’d win
So for Bones it’s because they’re friends and for Silva it’s because he’s scared, even though they both claim the exact same reason?
stfu with that Anderson is SCARED shit. The guy comes out for every fight THE UFC puts in front of him and he kicks the shit out of everyone (whats that 8-9 years and counting now?!). so stfu already. He was supposedly TERRIFIED of Sonnen for years too until he beat the shit out of him a few weeks ago. so just stfu with that please.
Silva sucks
He was terrified thats why he DUCKED for two years you ****ing moron. Just like how he was the FIRST to deny a fight with Jones and only has interest fighting people smaller than him.
Uh im pretty sure this “ducking” your talking about was more like chael got suspended for TRT abuse and then had to prove himself again before getting a rematch.
I’ll explain something to you,I am a fighter with very shit cardio & a short reach but when I spar with guys at the gym that I have as little as 5 kilos on I can relax & tell them to give it their best & im like “get away fly” I could go 20 minute rounds with them & not even breath heavy,This is what guys like silva & jones have been doing their whole careers.trust me their not as good as u think they r…
Ed sounds alittle hypocritical. saying basically its obsurd to have silva move up in weight to fight a bigger, younger guy, making it sound unfair, but thinks fighting a younger, smaller guy is a good idea, making silva the bigger guy.. SMH
Duck dodge dive duck and dodge
GSP is the one who has been DUCKING A. Silva for years. Silva is 7 years older and can make 180lbs. WOW GSP is solid muscle but he says he would need more time toput on more muscle. I CALL ***** BULLSHIT EXCUSES. GSP walks around at 200lbs. Dan Hendersen walks around at 200lbs and fights guys 230+lbs, oh but the mighty GSP needs every advanatge in world because he has been beat up by 2 lightweights in his career
Is that your life mantra faggot?! Anderson is going down as the GOAT and your going down as a sweet piece of shit **** all – so stfu.
I think it’s stupid for them to say Jones needs to cut to 185. Silva has had TWO dominant KOs at 205 in the UFC. He has no problem at LHW.
The UFC should make them fight whoever the UFC and the fans want to see them fight, period. ~Bob’O
Anderson has NEVER ducked anyone! his management team doesn’t like the weidman fight at this point of time because they think he’s to green in the sport to have earned a shot. If UFC disagrees, thats who he will fight. Silvas management aren’t the match makers their just voicing an opinion. I agree with them that there are other “better” fights, like Bisping ( who beat chael in my opinion) Belchor is looking awesome as of late, if Diaz stepped up that would be the fight of the century, i believe Silva would win, but you can’t ever count nick out, he loves pulling the upset in an underdog sit. If you asked Anderson about fighting Weidman he would prolly ask who the **** is that? Everyone is entittled to their own opinion, but have some respect for the most dominant person to ever step foot in the octagon, or any fighter for that matter
I hate how people are saying Silva doesn’t want to fight Jones, Soares just said that if Jones comes down to 185 Silva would fight him.
Jones is a huge LHW. He can barely make weight as it is. He need to put some muscle on that thin frame and step up to Heavyweight. It would be awesome to see him take on the winner of JDS vs. Velasquez II. Anderson needs to go ahead and take the GSP superfight. St. Pierre walks around at about 190. Getting to a fit 185 shouldnt be a problem for him. Its what everybody wants to see and both men are near the end of awesome careers. Lets see who the true GOAT is!
Chris Weidman has a black weinerslave
I hope to God Anderson fights Chris weidmann. It will be worse than the Damien Maia fight. Anderson will do whatever the **** he wants to him. Please make it happen. And **** wrestlers!
Weidman is not only a wrestler he’s got great subs.
Bad call by Soares. Its like making Anderson take a step back. That no show pot head loser has no place in the ring with the GOAT. I guess it would be fun to see Silva teach that cry baby some respect!
yea….the GOAT in mma is “ducking” someone. BAHAHAHAHA. ppl always find reason to hate. at one point in time ppl claimed anderson was “ducking” okami, vitor and chael, but yet on fight night he made each man look like a novice. diaz with a mw frame would work chael, bisping and weidman. how the **** can u “duck” a division that u nearly cleaned out 3 times over??
Anderson would snipe Diaz in the stand up and Nick doesn’t have the skills or SIZE to take the bigger Anderson Silva down. While it may sound like I’m underestimating Nick the fact is that Anderson is way too well rounded for Nick. I’d give Nick the edge in the BJJ but Anderson is very difficult for big 185 pound NCAA all american wrestlers to takedown and I don’t believe that if they fought that Nick would be able to get a dominant position on Anderson.
Pillow fisted bisbing would get worked by silva. Gsp is smallish for a ww. He’s like 5-10 and had to muscle up to be 195. He’s fought many guys 6-2″ and 200lbs. Way to small for silva I think.
I’d rather see Diaz/Silva to be honest. Weidman still needs a win over a top 5 guy to have me convinced.
Win a few more Weidman and that way you can`t be denied. Right now, you`re just getting started so don`t get all boners and think you can jump the Que.
Basically all i read was, stay away from the stornger wrestlers and fight the smaller guy who brings it? Ima huge silva fan but ed is talking some bullshit!! It dont matter who you fight, you always have something to gain or lose, reguardless of who you fight, but ed wants him to fight a smaller guy that brings it? So jones or weidmen wont bring it? Contradicting prick!! But at the end of the day id love to see silva vs diaz, lmmfao!! Its just ed made it sound like he dont want silva fighting great wrestlers cuz of what almost happend with sonnen.
Silva never ducked anyone. It’s a free country so they can speak their mind about who will be facing the GOAT next. This doesn’t mean he will refuse to fight Weidman, he’s just saying Weidman hasn’t beat anyone notable yet.
And don’t start about Maia because we all saw what Silva did with Maia. Munoz is not a memorable fight either because Munoz was pudgy and out of shape after an elbow surgery and a lay-off. So right now he just beat a few gatekeepers and an out of shape Munoz.
Let Weidman fight a real topcontender and win that fight convincingly, then he can demand a titleshot.
Those of you who think Diaz has a prayer need to give me a call so we can bet on it. I’ll give you 5-1 vs this kid.
