The Brazilian Athletic Commission announced Friday that all fighters from this month’s UFC 163 event have passed the mandatory drug tests.  UFC 163 saw featherweight champion Jose Aldo successfully defend his belt against Chan Sung Jung with a 4th-round TKO victory over Chan Sung Jung.

All the fighters who participated in UFC 163 held in Rio de Janeiro on August 3, 2013, were submitted to tests of anti-doping control,” the Brazilian Athletic Commission reported.  “The results of these tests did not reveal any illicit drug use, and/or to improve performance, stimulants, or substances used to mask the use of the same by any of the athletes who participated in UFC 163.

Though no fighter will be suspended for failing a drug test, several fighters will be out due to the commission’s mandatory suspensions for injuries.  Jose Aldo received a 90-day suspension for a fractured right foot.  Jung, best known as the Korean Zombie, dislocated his shoulder during the fight and received a 180-day suspension.

Unfortunately for both fighters, the medical suspnesions did not cover the extent of their injuries.  Jose Aldo was later hospitalized for kidney stones, and Jung revealed that he also suffered a fractured foot and a broken orbital during the fight.  The extent of these injuries may keep both men out of the Octagon longer than anticipated.
