After Soiled Past Dana White Open To Barnett’s UFC Return

“The way that Showtime wants to do it is when that fight finally happens, whoever wins it, they wanna do another fight on Showtime, so that guy would probably come to the UFC. We’ll see what happens, you know? Josh and I have been playing nice with each other for a little while, since he got into the UFC. It’s more than just, ‘Does he win? Does he do this?’ You gotta be able to come to terms with the guy and be able to deal with him. If he wins the fight, I can’t see why he wouldn’t come here, unless we weren’t able to make a deal with him.”
While getting interviewed by HDNet, UFC president Dana White revealed that former UFC champ and current Strikeforce Grand Prix finalist, Josh Barnett, has a welcome home with his heavyweight peers under the UFC banner.
Barnett has been a habitual PED user who has failed his drug screenings and served athletic suspensions on more than one occasion. Mix that with a healthy dose of harsh words for the UFC and Dana White has been reluctant to entertain the submission based fighter’s return to the Octagon.
However, time heals all wounds and Barnett is likely going to hit the main stage sooner than later.

Oh! I called it in the other thread. They are willing to look the other way even though he repeatedly abuses steroids.
if he stays clean there’s no reason not to let him fight in the big show. the past is the past.
If Josh signs a contract saying ‘I will be tested once a month, every month for the duration of my contract and I will not bitch or moan about this clause’ then Dana should sign him, he’s an entertainer and a legitimate threat in the HW division. Will it happen, who knows, but I hope it does!
Josh doesn’t even belong in the top 10 HW’s and if he fights in the UFC I hope I’m proven right. This guy is all mouth he hasn’t fought anyone decent since Big Nog and guess what he lost. He’s irrelevant.
that’s nice of dana knowing the past he still chooses to make it a business move instead of holding a personal vendetta I mean A rod was taking roids and he is still playing baseball right so just like other sports it’s excepted as long as he test clean
I think it’s exciting. PED history aside the guy is a solid fighter and since Lesnar went back to play fighting he’s the best proven wrestler in the HW division by a fair distance even with Cain around I’d say, not such a solid striker but I’d love to see him fight Cain, JDS or Overeem at some stage, be interesting to see the contrast. If he wins the Strikeforce tourny it would be good to see him fight ‘Reem next either in a unification fight or to set up the next contender after whoever wins between Cain and Mir gets their shot. Exciting times I reckon
I would like to see Barnett v Mir.
