Cormier Wants Any EX UFC Champ He Can Get, Including Tim Sylvia | MMA NEWS
Tim Sylvia has made it known how badly he would like to rejoin the ranks of the UFC. However unlikely that may be, a future fight with Daniel Cormier may be the next best thing for the one time UFC Champ.
Who knows if Sylvia does get a chance at Cormier and shocks the world, by beating him, he may get his shot someday. Why am I even talking about this? True or not, Sylvia has come up as a possible target for Cormier’s final fight in Strikeforce before he makes the jump to the UFC.
Cormier confirmed the fight talks with Sherdogs “Beatdown” Radio.
“I think anytime you get to fight a guy that held the UFC title, it’s a big deal. If Tim Sylvia’s the guy that they put across the cage from me, then that’s the guy I will fight on that day, but it doesn’t really matter to me. I said that I would like to actually continue my progression, but there aren’t many guys that are a step up from Josh Barnett. I don’t know. I just would like to keep progressing in my career and fighting guys that are better than the last guy. I don’t know who that’s going to be. It doesn’t really matter. I’ll give Showtime their fight and see where I stand in the UFC division when I’m done.”
As previously mentioned Sylvia is a former Heavyweight champion and has been pleading for a return to the MMA’s most lucrative banner.
Sylvia is slated to fight Randy Smith in the main event of New England Fights at the Androscoggin Bank Coliseum on June 16, 2012. If he is able to pick up the win, who knows what will happen.

Black Fedor is the truth he can hang with anyone in the UFC in my opinion. Might be undersized but with that pedigree size don’t mean a thing! DC will be the next UFC champ when the opportunity presents itself, yes siR. He’s just mad humble and isn’t trying to step on anyones toes, he seems like a great guy. Rashad referred to him as Black Fedor and i think that’s a great comparison, so i’ll call him that from now on.
