Chael Sonnen | Anderson Is A Fraud, Never Been The Best | UFC NEWS
By Jose Garcia:
The always animated Chael Sonnen, UFC Boss Dana White, and current middleweight champ Anderson Silva held a press conference in Brazil Wednesday in anticipation of UFC 148. Following the presser, Sonnen met with additional reporters and was in his normal character, Mr. Chael P. Sonnen.
When asked about his rivalry and on-going feud with Anderson Silva, Sonnen responded. “Rivalry comes with the challenge. He’s a fraud, phony, and im not gonna stand before him. I had to grow up with this crap. I had to grow up with Mike Tyson’s crap. They tried to tell us Mike was the best fighter in the world, but in reality he was never the best fighter in the country. The whole time Evander Holyfield was there. Every Single day of Mike Tyson’s life that he held the championship belt, Evander was there and could beat him in every one of those days. Every Single day that Anderson has the world championship, I’ve been here. We’re not from different genres, generations, we don’t have a big age gap. There’s not one day of his life he’s been the best fighter in the world. I’m the best and I have always been.”
If we all remember correctly, in the first fight between the two middleweight warriors, Sonnen completely dominated the entire fight until he was submitted in the fifth round via triangle armbar. Sonnen controlled the whole fight with tireless take-downs and completely out wrestling the Brazilian Silva. Again speaking with reporters in Brazil, Sonnen responsed strongly to Anderson saying he (sonnen) is only a wrestler and not an actual mixed martial artist. “I think it’s a compliment. I am a martial artist mixture or anything else you wanna say. I don’t wear little cocky pajamas, I don’t bowl, I don’t lay on my back looking up at somebody. I am a pugilist, I’m a fist fighter, I am a gangster from the mean streets of Oregon.”
With Sonnen in hostile territory in Brazil, it was only a matter of time before he was posed a question about his disrespect for the country and his public comments about the people of the country. “Why don’t you ask Anderson why he let me say those things about you guys for so long? Why don’t you guys ask Anderson why he’s a Brazilian when it is convenient? When the reality is he was made rick by a North American company, famous by a North American company, bought a two million dollar mansion in North America so he can leave Brazil the first chance he gets… He’s Brazilian when it’s convenient.”
With the long awaited rematch being officially moved to UFC 148 in Las Vegas, Sonnen is looking to avenge his defeat to Anderson Silva. Although the fight has been moved from Brazil, I’m sure the Brazilian people will be watching the fight with eyes wide open.
