Lauzon vs. Etim Added To Stacked UFC on FOX 4 Card

By: Jason Kindschy
I have to say it again; UFC on FOX 4 just keeps getting better.
A lightweight bout between Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (21-7) and Terry Etim (15-4) has been added to UFC on FOX 4, set to take place on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Joe Lauzon announced the fight on his website Wednesday. The lightweight scrap is scheduled to be on the preliminary portion of the card, weather the prelims will be aired on FX or FUEL TV has yet to be determined.
Both fighters are coming off of head kick KO losses, and both are in need of a win on August 4th.
Terry Etim is looking to rebound in a big way following his loss to Edson Barboza at UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro, which ended with a spectacular spinning wheel kick victory for the Brazilian. Previous to his loss to Barboza, the Liverpool England native had won 5 out of 6 fights, with his most recent wins coming over Eddie Faaloloto and Shannon Gugerty, both by way of guillotine choke. Etim was slated to face Lauzon back at UFC 118 in Boston, but was replaced by Gabe Ruediger due to a rib injury. When the two finally square off in Los Angeles on August 4th, Terry Etim will be looking to get back in the win column with an impressive performance against Joe Lauzon.
Just like his opponent, Lauzon is also coming off a devastating head kick KO defeat, against former WEC champion Anthony Pettis. Pettis took just 81 seconds to drop Lauzon at UFC 144 in Japan, which snapped a two fight win streak for “J-Lau.” Prior to the loss to Pettis, Joe Lauzon defeated Melvin Guillard with a rear naked choke after rocking Guillard early, and Curt Wartburton via kimura, both fights lasting under a combined 3 minutes. Lauzon, fighting out of Bridgewater Massachusetts, stated there was some déjà vu with this fight announcement, having trained for Terry Etim in anticipation of their fight at UFC 118, which never came to fruition. Joe stated on his website, “I liked the fight the first time around, but I really like the fight this time around as I have grown tremendously as an athlete and fighter.” Joe Lauzon is clearly confident he will get the victory heading into UFC on FOX 4.
The updated UFC on FOX 4 card is as follows:
• Hector Lombard vs. Brian Stann
• Ryan Bader vs. Lyoto Machida
• Travis Browne vs. Ben Rothwell
• Joe Lauzon vs. Terry Etim
• Matt Mitrione vs. Rob Broughton
• Phil De Fries vs. Oli Thompson
