Shogun Rua vs. Thiago Silva In The Works | UFC NEWS
One lucky UFC fan got some breaking news earlier today from Dana White personally.
The fan tweeted to White “who is shogun fighting next”, to which the UFC President replied,”Thiago Silva”.
This is exciting news for MMA fans, and could be an epic light-heavyweight fight.
Both fighters are hard hitters that love to stand and bang, and both are trying to work their way back up the light-heavyweight ranks.
Rua’s last fight against Dan Henderson at UFC 139 was a close fought battle that left both fighters bruised and bloodied; Rua lost the fight by a very close decision.
Silva on the other hand, had his first fight in over a year last month against up and coming light-heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson. Previously to the fight Silva had been suspended for a year for abusing PEDs, he was beaten by decision is his fight as well.
This fight will be a great chance for Rua and Silva to show that they are still relevant in their No date for the fight has been announced as of yet, but it is rumored to go down at UFC 149 in Calgary.

Vera is scared to get bitch-slapped again. Shogun might have had Dan gassed, but pretty sure Dan beat the crap out of Shogun as well. both of them were gassed by the end of the fight. that was an epic fight. dont think Silva vs Shogun will be nearly the same, but should be a great stand up war.

i don’t understand why silva is getting this fight.
he looked like complete shit in his last fight and showed that he can’t hang with the top fighters in the division;
even though shogun lost to hendo, he is still one of the top five fighters in the division.
shogun has never been ko’ed in his career, only tko’ed;
where as, silva has been ko’ed before.
shogun has the better chin and better stand up game in this fight,
i expect him to tko silva probably in the third round.

Stupid Fight
This will mostly likely be a great fight but I would think that Thiago Silva would need to win at least one opponent before he faces Shogun. Shogun is a top 5 in the LHW and should be facing someone who is very close to a title shot. I would like to see Shogun against Rashad Evans like someone mentioned before me. Physically Rashad should be ready to fight in a few months so I can’t see why that fight couldn’t happen. Maybe mentally Rashad needed more time. But OK this fight against Silva should be great although I seriously doubt that Silva deserves to be fighting a top 5 fighter.
I’m very excited to see who Phil Davis will face next. Maybe Lyoto or Ryan Bader.

To me it makes a lot more since to put gustoffson in here. Rua recently faught for a title, and gustoff should now be one win or two max away from a title shot so this fight makes since only for 3 reasons in my mind, none of which make it ok. 1: ufc is trying to get silva his ass raped a couple times before they punt him out for good, 2: since rampage/rua for rampages last fight was building steam, they are giving rua a freebe while he waits for page to be ready for his last ufc fight, or 3: both 1 and 2. Either way silva looked like ass against gus so might as well juice up again and try to time it right, cuz the only other option is to get the junk beat off yourself repeatedly till you give the sport up.
Wtf? Silva lost to gustufson and they give him a higher ranked oppenant? Lmao da fuk dana? Boooo im not paying for that garbage match up. Silva has and always will be a top 20 fighter.
