"Strikeforce Barnett vs. Cormier" Medical Suspensions Report | MMA NEWS

After a tremendous card that saw several hard fought battles including two epic title fights, medical
suspensions were bound to come next. The year-long Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix wrapped up
last Saturday as Daniel Cormier took on Josh Barnett in the main event and Gilbert Melendez looked to
defend his lightweight title against Josh Thomson.
Daniel Cormier took a hard fought unanimous decision win out from under Josh Barnett, who broke his
hand very badly early in the fight. Both men were cut and bleeding and by the end of the fight they
were both wearing the “proverbial crimson mask” that Mauro Ranallo so eloquently stated.
Josh Thomson fought in a rubber match against rival, Gilbert Melendez in a brutal fight that saw to
Melendez’ eye being swollen shut and Thomson receiving a fat lip in a great lightweight tilt.
Here is the full list of medical suspensions:

I don’t see Melendez? No medical suspension for him?
Probably should have suspended 60 days with 60 days no contact, or until cleared by physician, for multiple facial lacerations.
That mouse under his eye look like shit
The amount of injuries seems insane compared to a UFC fight. Is this normal for strikeforce or just a one time thing?
