Jones Arraignment Hearing Set | Appears May 29 For DWI Incident | UFC NEWS
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones is expected to face New York’s Binghamton City Court on May 29, 2012, following his Bentley crash and DWI charge this past weekend.
Fuel TV’s “UFC Tonight” reports the champ is expected to come to a plea bargain with the District Attorney in order to avoid a trial and the maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $1000 fine.
“Jon is scheduled to appear in court, next Tuesday, May 29, 9 a.m. That’s Binghamton City court. That’s when he will receive his arraignment. That’s when the judge will explain to him what he’s facing here, and also ask him if he can afford a lawyer and all that stuff. If he says yes to everything, if he’s cool with everything that’s presented to him, he will then face a pre-trial. They told me that will happen in a couple months time, around August or September. At the pre-trial, he will receive a plea bargain from the District Attorney, and if he accepts the plea bargain, there will be no trial, he will just accept the penalty that is presented to him. If he doesn’t accept it, then he will have a trial, later on this year. That’s when he faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $1000 fine.”
Jones probably will avoid jail time and is expected to reach an agreement with officials. However, Dana White’s first UFC sponsored fighter is still in deep water with the “haters”.
Jones recently posted an apology to Facebook thanking his true fans for their support, while telling his “haters” he has no room for them. The post was removed soon after.

No room for haters? He was probably in jail when he posted that. Lmao! Jon, I respect u as a fighter , b/c you are more than I’ll ever be in MMA . Out side the ring and in the real world, I’m a better man then you. Thank God it was a pole you hit and not some one’s mom, dad, daughter or son.
