Frank Mir | JDS is a Throw Punches and Run Kind of Guy | Video

HDNet’s Inside MMA had the number 1 contender Frank Mir talking about the Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos.
“The only difference I feel with dos Santos is that dos Santos is the better boxer, you know, quicker hands. He just isn’t as multifaceted as Velasquez is. As far as, when you fight dos Santos, I don’t think it’s any secret: he has no chance of winning the fight if it goes to the ground. The only time that I’ve ever seen him take a shot is if he’s pretty handily winning the fight and I think he just does it just for maybe a change of pace, to throw something out there.
But as far as when you see people engage him, he’s a throw-punches-and-run kind of guy. He doesn’t wanna sit there and get grabbed and taken down and he’s not gonna fight that battle. If he was capable of doing it, we probably would’ve seen it already.
“Fact is, he avoids it like it’s poison.”
Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos will face Frank Mir on UFC 146 on Saturday May 26 at the MGM Grand Arena.

Junior’s right, Frank mir does talk alot.. Too bad it’ll get shut so tight after they fight.
I like Mir but wow…. wat a stupid thing to say
What’s stupid about it? He’s making a legitimate point. I’m not a a Dos Santos hater nor am I a fanboy for Mir. If you believe that Mir stands no chance in this fight then you are either delusional or you are just plain ignorant. The only question is,will Mir’s chin break before he can get the fight to the ground. Dos Santos is cool but he’s just a heavy handed striker. You can’t assume he’s the better fighter just because he has knockout power and is a great striker. That’s why he’s compared to a prime Liddell so much.
Ok let me think for a second carwin and cain couldn’t get dos santos down but can mir some how… no he can’t it will be impossible for mir to get junior down
Everyone has a chance.. It’s just that Frank has a very slim one here. Perhaps he’s trying to get Dos Santos pride to kick in so he can go to the ground or something. They have to hype the fight somehow. It’s kind of working……Still a major step down from the Overeem fight hype.
This is a much shorter version of the discussion Mir has about Dos Santos. Later on he goes to say that the reason Dos Santos doesn’t have to go to the ground is because he is so talented with his boxing, and gives Dos Santos his due respect for it. Leaving out that part kind of makes this seem like a jab at JDS, but its really not when put back in context.
Instigators
Trying to get Frank more hurt than he probably was going to be.. smh
Man, Frank Mir is going to sleep.
Dos Santos is more of a throw punches and knocks your ass out kinda guy. Mir is a talk shit and act intelligent but gets his ass smashed anyways kind of guy
Mir is talkin’ a whole lotta dumb shit these days! No need to hype yourself up and sell yourself as the next guy in line, Miir. You got the fight, now please stop with the Sonnen-esque carnival barking. We all know if you throw hands with JDS, whom I don’t see doing any type of hit and running, you will wake up looking at pics of yourself, face down in the octagon, unconsciously doing your best imitation of planking
And we all know that if you roll with Mir you get your arm broke…
No denying that. So far Wrestlers like Cain and Carwin, even a bjj stud like werdum haven’t been able to put his ground skills to the test, so I really have a hard time seeing Mir get this fight to the ground either. Not saying it isn’t possible, Bexause Mir is a stud, but I just don’t see it going down like that
Where’s the gadamn video?!
Nothing he is saying is wrong. JDS does avoid the ground. He also is a flurry puncher. Goes in, throws bombs, gets out. You never see him in slugfest
That’s true Frank, he’s going to do just that with you to ” throw punches and run!” Diaz Bros and TEAM PENN!!!!!
What fight exactly is Mir talking about. All JDS does is come forward. He’s not even a counter puncher… He comes forward throwing and will stand right in front of the other guy the whole fight. Mir is a smart guy but he’d need to give a lot of examples to prove this one true.
There is nothing wrong with sticking and moving it is called good foot work. It is the reason numerous fighters like anderson silva win fights. Mir is great at BJJ but he needs to work a little more on his stand up that is the real issue and he needs to learn to cut off the ring other than that he is in for a ass whipping
Dos santos is going to submit Frank for talking all the shit about Juniors ground game, I predict Frank to catch Junior in the stand up with a weak shot Junior will drop guard and submit Frank with a triangle choke
That has to be the worst prediction I have ever heard, ever.
Yeah, I gotta second that opinion. Easily one of the worst predictions I’ve read yet
You are either a genius or a moron.
Everyone is selling Mir short. He could easily win this fight. I think he will.
nobody knows if his BJJ is good!
he was never tested ..
Probably safe to assume that the difference in grappling ability is about equal to the difference in striking ability.
Mir is an idiot…what a punchface!
Mir is smart. He is well aware of how much fighting is a mental game. He always make sure he well disrespects his opponent before they meet in the cage, so that it increases the chance that you might make a mental error. But, he is gonna get clobbered.
frank is just trying to sell the fight and get into his head I bet jds by knock out in round 1 but he is right jds looks scared of the ground probably because the only guy to beat him took him to the ground and tapped him the obvious pick even to new fans is jds but Frankie is dangerous he was the first to ko big nog then became the first to tap him
