White said Jones could be out six weeks or six months
Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is usually very active when he fights. Unfortunately for Jones, he may be inactive in the octagon for a while.
Jones (18-1) injured his toe when he defended his belt against Chael Sonnen (27-13-1) at UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen in April. Although he won via technical knockout in the first round, he may possibly be out for 6 months.
UFC Dana White said on MMAJunkie.com that Jones has ligament damage on his toe that he injured and is unsure when he will return. White said that the healing could take six weeks or six months.
“His thing is, he says he feels great and the toe’s healing good,” White said during his pre-fight media scrum. “But the problem was that ligament. That ligament popped. Anywhere you tear a ligament, blood flow helps the thing repair itself and heal, and you don’t get a lot of blood flow at the toe.”
Jones is in Russia right now. White said that Jones will get an MRI done on his toe again when he comes back.
