UFC 158 Results: Hendricks scores unanimous decision over Condit | UFC NEWS

Armed with his trusty left hand and a bevy of takedowns, Johny Hendricks may have just earned the title shot he has been wanting.

Hendricks earned a 29-28 unanimous decision victory over Carlos Condit in Saturday’s co-main event of UFC 158 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada

The win improves Hendricks to 15-1. Condit fell to 28-7

Hendricks scored 12 takedowns in the win.

Hendricks was the high-point of an explosive first round.

Hendricks landed three significant lefts to start the fight. He also secured two early takedowns. Condit combated with some nice flying knees and was able to take some shots. Condit took Hendricks’ back late in the round and ended it with a nice front kick to the face.

In the second round, Hendricks landed another nice left around the 3:00 mark that led to another takedown. Condit connected on some effective shots but Hendricks retaliated with another takedown. The fight got back to its feet and Condit peppered some Hendricks with some nice punches and knees but Hendricks scored another big takedown late in the round.

Condit had a nice third round, putting on plenty of pressure with some quick combinations. But yet another Hendricks’ takedown secured the victory.

Hendricks entered the fight with eight knockouts and a three-time knockout of the night bonus winner.

The victory was Hendricks’ sixth straight. Condit lost to Georges St. Pierre in November, 2012. Prior to that, had won five straight fights.

Condit got robbed. Gsp vs. Diaz was boooooooorrrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg. Gsp is the most boring champ ever.

  2. Rodriguez says:

Yeah…12 take downs and more punches landed in rnds 1 and 2 for Hendricks…OBVIOUSLY CONDIT WAS ROBBED…

    • Nuitari X says:

Hendricks might have scored a lot of take downs but he didn’t do anything from the top. Condit did more damage from the bottom than he did from the top. I bet you thought Hendricks beat Koscheck too. I like both fighters but Condit is way more well rounded than Hendricks. If he worked on his take down defense a little more he would be even better. Don’t get me wrong though I’m a big fan of both fighters and this was a hard one for me to pick because I would like to see both of them win and that can’t happen. Even though I’m a fan of Hendricks I call it like I see it and I think he lost to
Condit and Koscheck and I can’t stand Koscheck. Oh well, opinions are like assholes right?

      • Rodriguez says:

I get what you mean. I just think Condit didn’t really do as much until after Hendricks broke his hand. But I think if Condit exploded more he probably could have won…and yeah I’m a fan of both too haha

  3. 123 says:

Carlos Condit nearly knocked him out, wrestling is too much of an advantage in the ufc especially when alot of countries dont even wrestle & Carlos Condit is the best welterweight in the world in my opinion.

  4. GRT 3000 says:

based on tonight’s fights, Carlos Condit is the only next fight I’m looking to see. GSP is going to GSP Hendricks without question. Nick wants to fight the toughest dudes in the world but can win the fights to get there, so that’s that. Carlos vs. Rory is the only thing interesting at 170 right now.

    • 123 says:

i agree Carlos Condit vs Rory Mcdonald will be insane

    • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Maia vs MacDonald next. Condit lost again, that’s 2 in a row he needs to fight another loser like Marquardt.

      • GRT 3000 says:

that’s cuz you wanna rimjob every wrestler out there. Johnny won on td’s & so he’ll face GSP and lose. Don’t care if Condit doesn’t face GSP again, not sure the outcome would be any different. Just like to watch him mix it up and fight. & I’m a fan of GSP but he needs to start following through. Those superman jabs keep him safe all night long, but do not put him in any range to actually finish a fight.

        • Gargoyle Wrestling says:

Dude, its just about dominating a fight and controlling your opponent. It’s up to the other guy to make a fight of it. Why do you think the Brazilians are training wrestling like madmen? They know they need it to win and make a fight. GSP uses the jab and superman to keep distance because he can control the fight and and take a shot. It’s up to Diaz or his opponent to out fight that strategy. How do you do it, you fuckin go in and take that fucker down and beat his ass up. Dirty box and kick the shit out of him. GSP has to be out wrestled then you can make a fight. Otherwise, make wrestling illegal and then you have a kickboxing bout.

  5. george says:

I think takedowns should not score so highly especially where they are just a pull down. Hendricks with all the take downs could do nothing he should not have got bthe decision

  6. Hendricks is a one trick pony says:

But he keeps winning, so I guess that’s all that matters…but I thought Condit won. This is the Condit from the past–non stop and relentless. Unreal from the bottom position. 11 takedowns? It could be a million takedowns, but when you don’t do anything from the top position, why does a takedown score so much in the judges eyes? And in the past, Hendricks said “wait til the world sees my jiu jitsu.” Well, the world is still waiting because Hendricks has none.
This is why Hendricks will lose against GSP. The fight that needs to happen is
    GSP vs MacDonald. Period.

  7. Ddddddd says:

Did anyone see the same fight I did? I wanted Condit to win but Hendricks controlled where the fight took place the whole fight. He threw him to the ground a couple times so hard it damn near bounced him back up to his feet. Condits head movement is unbelievable but if you didn’t know any better it appears he’s not Rolling with the punches but he’s taking damage. I’ve heard people bitch when he won against Diaz for the same strategy. Kick ass fight
