I was able to speak with Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp about a variety of topics. Obviously the biggest news is the recent announcement that Cris “Cyborg” Santos signed with Invicta FC. She spoke candidly about the signing, and what it means for her organization. Shannon was a pleasure to talk to, and Invicta is in good hands with her at the helm.

On signing Cris “Cyborg” Santos

“You know I think it’s big for Invicta on all levels. You know, I think it’s big for Invicta for the promotion itself, I think it’s big for the other athletes because when you bring in someone who is as known as Cris and has that star factor. It will bring more attention to the event.  Which will give more attention, you know, for the other athletes competing.  So you know it’s a win-win for everybody. So yeah we’re excited to have her. I’ve worked with Cris for years now, at Strikeforce, so she’s an amazing athlete first and foremost and I think she will bring a lot of value to Invicta.”

On the possibility of a fight between Cris and Ronda Rousey

“At anytime if they can come to an agreement with the UFC about Ronda she’s welcome to go and do, you know, pursue that in terms of that because I think that’s a great fight, I think it’s a fight she wants, I think it’s a fight the fans want, I think, I think it’s a fight that needs to happen.”
