Brian Stann : ‘I Want to Fight Michael Bisping’ | UFC News

While appearing on Tuesdays edition of UFC Tonight Michael Bisping commented on who he would like to face next and Brian Stann’s name came up.
Today on the 4th of July The All-American formally accepted The Count’s challenge and the next step is for Joe Silva to make it happen.
Stann is still recovering from shoulder surgery however upon hearing Bisping mention his name he was exited by the potential bout.
“I think that’s a fight that I need to jump at because he’s obviously ranked higher than I am. He’s a guy that’s right up there in the mix for a title shot, which is what we all want. Of course I want to fight Michael Bisping,”
“He’s a star in the UFC, he makes big time money, he’s got everything that everybody else wants, and he’s earned it. So I want to take that. I saw the interview and I know my shoulder will be ready for Sept. 22 in Toronto (UFC 152) and that would be a great honor to put that fight on for the fans.”
In his last bout Stann finished Alessio Sakara in the first round at UFC on Fuel TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva on April 14, 2012. Stann now has his sights set on another European.
Bisping is a fighter who is always happy to voice his opinion and Stann a more reserved character who lets his fighting speak for itself. Stann took into account the fact that Bisping may talk trash before the fight but it is not something that would concern him.
“I could care less. I’ve had fights where they talk; I’ve had fights where they don’t talk. I bury my head in the sand with my family and I just train for fight. I could care less about the attention, the fame, etc. He gets a lot of it and that’s part of the game,”
“I want him because he’s a very good fighter, he’s very close to a title shot and I was close to a title shot as well and that’s what I want to get to. I know I’ve gotten better in the last seven or eight months. I went up to Oregon to train with Chael Sonnen to prove to myself how much better I’ve gotten and I know I can compete with anybody.”
Alan Belcher and Bisping have been going back and forward recently and Belcher was the other fighter Bisping called out. Stann has nothing but respect for Belcher but feels a bout between himself and Bisping would gain more interest.
“He’s the biggest star in England and with my background here in America, it’s just a fitting storyline going into a fight. Alan Belcher’s a fantastic fighter, he’s a great guy, but I just personally think the fight between me and Bisping would attract more attention,”
Bisping and Stann have crossed paths over the past few months and pleasantries have always been exchanged. However Stann admits he has avoided really getting to know Bisping.
“Me and Mike have been in the same location on several occasions and we’ve both known this fight was coming and so I think we’ve just purposefully avoided getting to know one another because we know this fight is eventually going to happen. Why make nice with each other until after we’ve fought?”
When asked how a potential fight between himself and Bisping would go Stann answered.
“It will deliver.”

I like Stann, but Belchers got a way bigger tool box then Stann, if I know Bitchping he will take Stann first he’s a way easier fight, but eventually he will have to face the talent and when he does he”s gonna lose, Alan’s a much better fighter then Bitchbing and will win the title, or even get title shot before that pompous Limey!

i want bisping in this fight and i think he can win, at the sametime stann could easily win. i come to realize over the past few years that stann, on the feet, is legit. i hate giving this guy credit cus i just dont like him, but his speed, power, accuracy, and boxing awareness on the feet really shocks me sometimes. his leg kicks can be just as nasty as his punches. honestly i dont know who wins if these two fight. i wanna say bisping presses the pace and eventually folds stann up in the corner, but stann is such a big puncher anything can happen. this fight is next, just like i predicted earlier @WATSRELEGOOD. lol sry, i shouldnt be a dick, but i have to rub that in. lol. if i have to choose ill go with bisping, but i wont be shocked at all if stann grabs the W in dominate fashion.

I really doubt that Dana is going to allow this fight to happen.We all know Bisping has been protected for years.The only reason Bisping is asking for this fight is because he’s being called out by Vitor,and he wants to avoid Vitor by any means necessary.I’m pretty sure Stann would smash him too.Hes more technical and more aggressive.
In a couple of other threads on this site people have implied that it is unpatriotic to not root for Sonnen vs. anyone who isn’t American. Sonnen’s public persona(I don’t know him personally, obviously, he could be the nicest guy when he’s not trying to promote himself) is obnoxious and classless. Brian Stann is a classy man and a terrific ambassador for America who goes out of the way to represent his country. He’s an American I can get behind and stay behind. I will always want Stann to win every fight he’s in even though I’ve got a man crush on Anderson Silva. He looks like an effin’ GIJoe and presents himself as John Doe family man ex-marine.
Bisping has some pretty good stand-up but I don’t think he really has the power that Stann possesses. He can probably outscore Stann, but Stann’s power, I think, can pretty much bridge the gap between his and Bisping’s striking. You know how the judges are, Bisping could be tagging Stann up and get rocked. They’ll give the round to Stann right there. I don’t think that Bisping could finish him, and I most certainly think that Stann could land a nasty power shot that ends it.
Yes, I am a Brian Stann fan, and always will be. I’ve deployed twice to AFG and know that any man who takes 42 Marines into combat and brings all 42 Marines back home to their families is phenomenal. He has a Silver Star to prove it…
